Summer might seem far away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give yourself gorgeous beach waves at home. Beach waves are a beloved and versatile hairstyle. Whether you want to achieve precise waves with hot tools or prefer a more laid back look, there are plenty of methods for you to choose from.

Curling Iron Waves

The most traditional way to get textured beach waves is with a curling iron. Curling irons are a little more user-friendly than flat irons, so they’re great for beginners. Opt for a barrel that’s approximately one-inch in diameter and be sure to apply a heat protectant to your hair before styling. Simply shake out your hair after curling and you’re ready to go.

Sleep-in Braid Waves
Sleep-in braids are an effortless solution that make for stunning results. Start by leaving the front pieces of your hair out, then flip your head over like you’re going to make a high ponytail on top of your head. Separate into three equal sections, then make a regular braid. In the morning, gently unravel the braid and shake out your hair from the roots.

Headband Waves

Headband waves are another simple, yet effective overnight option for achieving loose beach waves. Using a cotton headband, twist and wrap your hair around the base of the band in small sections to achieve a straight-off-the-sand look. This method also requires no heat and only takes a few minutes before bed to complete.

Bathrobe Waves

Made popular by TikTok, this method is achieved with a thick bathrobe belt. Center your belt on the top of your head where you’d normally place a headband. Then twist two-inch sections of hair around the belt, joining each section until you’ve created one long twist. Secure the end with a hair tie, then twist it into a high bun. Repeat this process on the other side of your head, go to bed, and untwist when you wake up!
