Create Beach Waves at Home

Summer might seem far away right now, but gorgeous beach waves are perfect to wear any time of the year. There’s plenty of reasons why beach waves are a beloved hairstyle. Whether you prefer more precise waves created with hot irons and wands or prefer a more laid back, I just got out of the ocean look, there are plenty of foolproof methods for you to perfect beach waves at home.

Curling Iron/Wand Waves

Arguably the most well-known (and easiest) way to get textured beach waves is by using a hot curling iron or wand. Curling irons or wands are great for those learning to do at home beach waves for the first time. Just always be sure to apply a heat protectant product before styling! Once you’ve curled your hair, simply run your fingers through to create a looser effect.

Sleep-in Braid Waves
Sleep-in braids are an almost effortless solution that yields stunning results. Just simply braid wet, towel tried hair and sleep with them in place overnight. In the morning, gently unravel the braid and shake out your hair from the roots with your fingers. Like we said… this method is virtually effortless.

Headband Waves

Headband waves are another simple, yet effective overnight method for creating stunning beach waves. Using a soft cotton headband (or the softest fabric you can find) wrap your hair around the head band in small individual sections to achieve a more loose, lived in look. This method uses zero potentially damaging heating tools and most of the work is done while you’re sleeping.

Bathrobe Waves

Made popular by DIYers on TikTok, you may be surprised to find out that you can curl your hair using  a bathrobe belt. Place the band at the top of your head where you’d typically wear a headband. Next, twist small sections (around 2 inches) of hair one at a time around the belt. Continue this process until you end up with one long twist around the belt. Fasten the end with a hair tie and twist it into a high bun. Repeat this process on the other side of your head and sleep with it in space overnight.
