5 Hair Trends to Try This Spring

March 8, 2021by fadmin
Have you noticed that the temperatures are rising and the sun has started setting later? You know what that means… spring is right around the corner! The start of a new season, along with the fact that our salons have re-opened to the public, means it’s a great time to try a new hairstyle or colour. Now that we can finally leave our homes and see people again, we’re predicting 2021 is going to be a year of big and bold styles. Looking for something cool,  contemporary, and playful? We think clients will be asking for these looks all season long.

70s Bangs
Celebrities like Hillary Duff and Jennifer Lopez have made 1970s curtain bangs look chicer then ever! Instead of cutting full-on bangs, which can sometimes feel more dramatic and high maintenance, frame both sides of your face using longer layers. This swooping style is incredibly versatile and makes any hair length, texture, or style look effortlessly polished.

Cropped Bobs
Flowing cropped cuts are totally trending this season! Based on your personal preference and the natural texture and density of your hair, cropped wavy bobs can be achieved by cutting your hair to the jaw or mid-neck level. Want to add a bit of drama and personalization to this trendy cut? Try an asymmetrical style that’s either cut slightly shorter in length in the back or on one side.

Face Framing Streaks
Face framing highlights, also known as “money pieces”, were the go-to style of 2020. This still continues, only now we’re seeing more creative colours and pastels used instead of traditional blondes or browns. Want to really turn heads this spring? If you want to ramp up the high contrast nature of this look, you can also add a solid darker colour on the rest of your hair to make your colour pop even more.

Reverse Balayage
While classic balayage is all about subtly brightening the hair with blondes, reverse balayage actually does the opposite by adding in dark colours and tones. This technique focuses on lowering the contrast between light and dark in a way that creates more subtlety, while still beautifully standing out. We’re expecting to see this style rein supreme this spring and into 2022.

Fantasy Blue
A growing number of our clients have experimented with dying their locks in bright, bold colours that are anything but boring. And while pastel pinks and rose golds may have been one of the top colour choices last year, 2021 is the year of blue – especially pastel blue. This colour can be beautifully applied to your whole head or in the form of balayages and money pieces.
