Summer Hair Care Tips

August 7, 2020by fadmin

We’re so excited that summer is finally here! And now more than ever, everyone is looking forward to getting outside and enjoying the warm weather. Not to be the bearer of bad news, but heat and humidity can sometimes wreak havoc on your hair health. That’s why it’s important to give your hair some extra TLC with an effective summer haircare routine.

Here’s how you can keep your hair healthy and lucious all summer long!

The heat can often leave your hair dry and majorly lacking moisture. Switching your conditioner to moisturizing formulas and using our Davines OI hair oils  on the ends will help revive dehydrated  locks. Our selection of conditioning masks and leave-in conditioners will also give added boosts of moisture.

Wash Less Often

While conditioning is key, it’s important not to let your hair lose its natural oils from washing too frequently. We suggest extending the time between washes by using a dry shampoo product. If you can’t go too long without washing, focus on shampooing just your roots and then let it lather and run through the rest of your hair.

Protect Your Hair

When the sun it out, it’s always a must to cover your hair as much as possible. A cool new headscarf or hat is a perfect and stylish way to avoid direct sunlight from hitting your hair. Make sure to also use our Davines OI haircare products specifically formulated for colour protections to help keep your colour and highlights from fading.

Be Mindful of Pools

Of course a pool is a great way to cool off in the summer, but harsh chemicals like chlorine can cause major hair trouble. From preventative protection, we recommend rinsing your hair under cold water before you dive into the pool. By washing it with fresh water first, you’re actively decreasing the amount of chemicals it can soak in.

Avoid Added Heat

Thanks to the humidity and rising temperatures, summer hair is already parched enough – and that’s before even adding heating tools into the mix. Because of this, embrace summer as a time to try more natural hair styles and techniques that avoid using curling wands or hair straighteners.

Regular Trims

When hair dries out from the summer heat and humidity, it increases your chance of developing unwanted split-ends. By scheduling regular trim appointments at our salons, you will maintain your hair health and appearance.
