How to Keep Your Hair Healthy

May 1, 2020by fadmin

Over the last couple months, Ottawa has done an incredible job of social distancing and doing our part to keep the community safe. We applaud these wonderful efforts, but also understand  that staying home means anyone with coloured hair is experiencing major grow-out by now.

At Fernandino, we care deeply about you and your hair health. That’s why we’ve compiled some useful hair info, tips, and tricks to get you through this stay-home period.

  1. Feel like you’re losing some more strands that usual due to COVID-19 stress and anxiety? Not to worry. Losing 100 to 150 strands of hair a day is actually perfectly normal. So don’t be alarmed if you see a few hairs in your shower drain.
  2.  To dry brush, or not to dry brush? That is the question. Ever wonder if it’s better to comb your hair when it’s wet or dry? Well combing your drenched locks isn’t the slickest idea when it comes to hair health. Wet hair should be combed with caution because hair is at its most fragile and prone to breakage when wet. To maintain your mane, take a broad-toothed comb and gently comb from roots to ends of dry hair.
  3. Feel like a home haircut is a good idea? Stop. Take a breath. And pick up the phone. Call us, we will be more than happy to walk you through trims and how to keep your hair healthy until we are able to see each other next

Most of all, do what makes you happy. Staying healthy and keeping your spirits up are of utmost importance, so take care of yourselves. Sometimes, in order to do just that it means curling up on the couch and waiting for your hair mask to set.

Be well, Ottawa.
